Message There is definately something different about this cylinder over all of the others simply for the fact that this cylidner damaged a rod bearing.

1) All of the cylinders have been at equal compression numbers. Checking for carbon deposits isn't really a practical test simply because you'll have to pull the heads to make that determination. Dee's car is running water injection and this has a great internal cleaning effect on the engine, so I will dismiss these ideas.

2) Your theory on whether the knock system is working properly or not doesn't quite apply to this scenario. Checking to see if the knock system is working will tell us nothing conclusive about the source of this current problem. The failure occurred on only 1 cylinder and the rest of the bearings are near-perfect. You say that any cylinder can detonate, which is totally correct, and each cylinder should have equal probability to detonate as compared to the rest, unless there is another factor involved, such as a weak injector. Detonation doesn't immediately destroy a bearing either - it is a cumulative effect that occurs over time, and it was obviously occuring on this one cylidner significantly more than the others, if this is actually what destroyed the bearing (and not a machining error).

3) Something you are apparently unaware of concerning the EGR system is that it ONLY functions to recirculate exhaust gases during cruise loading. At idle or WOT, the EGR is fully closed. The EGR system is not for reducing knock - it is solely there to reduce NOx emissions.

4) The only people who will say that I am an aggressive tuner are those that have never actually seen me do the work I do. I hope you realize that I have tuned over 100 Z32s so far, and many of them have shown fantastic numbers, but dont forget, those are just the "facial shots" to reflect what its peak capacity is and it is not the same programming used in a final EPROM burn. It is funny to listen to these kinds of comments (from my perspective) as it truly reflects the ignorance of those who speak it - just watching the bandwagon has its comedy. My reputation is built on success, not failure. If I were an aggressive tuner, I wouldn't be in business very long - engines would simply fail in every case. Consider this before you make your judgement.

5) I feel that we are once again off subject, and I am simply repeating what I have already stated 10^6 times before, LOL.
